Because of Winn-Dixie

Because of Winn-Dixie is a family movie that is about a lonely girl who doesn't know her mother and has moved around a lot. She finds a dog that is incredibly nice and helps her to make friends in the neighborhood. Most families should see it because it is a bit funny and sometimes sad. Ages 5 and up.

PARENT REVIEW: Preacher's Daughter Learns Lesson

Your kids will be stone faced, but bring tissues for yourself -- this is a weeper. At 10, Opal (Anna Sophia Robb) realizes the flaws, sadness and joy in every human being and that no person is neither good nor bad. There's also a quiet lesson about prejudging people before you know them. The only thing that offended me in this movie is that the kids of Naomi, Florida, seem to have no parental supervision whatsoever. For kids 8 and up.
