love it it was funny and kinda romantic

When I first saw the trailer to "Bandslam", I thought it was just another movie that was plotting to take my money without leaving any lessons to help me in life. But, I was wrong beyond belief. It wasn't a typical movie. Sure, Vanessa Hudgens from "High School Musical" was in it and the advertising company had made it seem like she had the starring role and it was basically a HSM4, but it wasn't. "Bandslam" was about various teenagers who had illustrated the awkwardness, loneliness, and insecurities that one can feel during their high school life. It also demonstrated the gift of friendship and the love one has for music. The main characters were all different in the sense that they had belonged into different stereotypes and experienced different problems. The writer of the story had portrayed the characters to compliment one another and that was what made it work. The group of students in the story had clicked and the actors had great chemistry while working together as well.

As for the musical aspect of the movie, well, it's easy to say that it is NOT a musical although one might think otherwise. The movie had numerous of songs incorporated into the story, but the songs were not what completed the story. It was the dialogues and emotions that each character exposed throughout the movie. Even though "Bandslam" was not a musical, I still enjoyed the music because of the wonderful artists that had participated in completing the musical portion. The music they had used were not solely for teenagers, but they were also for adults, so that everyone can enjoy the movie.

Overall, "Bandslam" in my opinion is a remarkable movie that is under appreciated because people were blinded by failure that they call promotion.

BANDSLAM was a really teenager movie in that it's about a band and there's lots of dating in there. It's also about singing which I only kind of liked. I liked that it wasn't about little kids. I think it should be PG-13 because it's a movie more about teenagers so kids will like it who are 13 and up.

BANDSLAM is this generation's THE BREAKFAST CLUB. It's a well-written movie about teens that has unexpected turns and surprising heart and depth.

Just as THE BREAKFAST CLUB takes on kids who could fit into two-dimensional stereotypes and lets us into their world, rounding out their characters into full fledged people, BANDSLAM takes the geek, the popular girl, the loner chick and a few others and shows us they what makes them tick. In fact, one device in the film is that a teacher assigns a human studies project where they have to really find out who their partner is.

While THE BREAKFAST CLUB did use curse words to make the point with certain characters, writer-director Todd Graff's first movie is a lesson on how to make an excellent movie for teens that never ventures into inappropriate behavior.

BANDLSAM is a GRANDSLAM.
