Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island is the perfect 3D movie: everything is coming right at you. This movie is about a very adventurist kid who found a scratchy signal from a mysterious island and thinks it's his grandfather. With the help of his stepfather and people who fly a helicopter, together they find the mysterious island. I think little kids might be scared a little bit, but its a perfect movie for a kid who likes adventure, science sci-fi, and 3D. I give this movie an A+.  For kids 7 and up.

Sean's latest escapade

Journey 2 is a rip-roaring and swashbuckling story, with mysterious caves, and unusual animals. It is about a teenager named Sean (Josh Hutcherson), who you might remember from his last adventure Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Sean and his stepfather Hank (Dwayne Johnson) decode a message from a mysterious place. It sets them on a journey to the mysterious island – the one in Gulliver’s Travels, Treasure Island, and Jules Vernes’ Mysterious Island. Sean, his stepfather, Gabato (Luis Guzman), and Kailani (Vanessa Hudgens) soon find Sean’s grandfather, Alexander (Michael Caine). Together, they find a way to get off the island before it got destroyed.

Sean’s first day on the island hold more action and adventure then they bargained for. The intrigue and tension pick up when Sean finds out the mysterious island was going to sink. With pounding hearts, the group tries to escape the mysterious island in time.

Join Sean, his stepfather, Gabato, and Kailani to outsmart their adversaries in an unbelievable bird chase across the mysterious island. Even though the group is amazed at the majestic ruins of structures built thousands of years ago, they have to fight against enormous forces hopelessly beyond their control. Will they make it? Find the answer by watching Journey 2 for yourself!

A first-class adventure the whole family will enjoy! I rate it 5 stars and recommend Journey 2 for 5 years and up. This fabulous movie is a Pick It!

Journey 2

Journey 2 is a super great movie. The good thing about this movie is that its hilarious, there are adventures, ans the actors are Great! The only, and i mean ONLY, thing i didn't like is that there was a little to much slow motion. But that shouldn't stop you. I recommend that you watch this great movie in 3D. I did, and you should too.

Great Movie for Kids EXCEPT 1 Thing

JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND is a fun, action-packed film presented in the kind of 3D kids like ... AND it makes science and reading exciting! JOURNEY 2 is about a troubled teen (Josh Hutcherson playing the same character from JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH) who intercepts a signal he believes from his grandfather directing him to find the island Jules Verne writes about. Moreover, several literary classics play a role in the film.

While JOURNEY 2 is about the adventure of discovering "The Mysterious Island," it's also about the men in a family coming together by finding common ground in books: the resentful teen, the absentee grandfather, and a new stepfather who is trying to bond with his stepson. It's so nice to see a story about a stepdad who is a good guy and loves his stepson -- there are not enough of these stories that reflect life more accurately than the "evil stepparent" storylines that frequent cinema.

One big drawback in the film: the opening scene. To show Hutcherson's character Sean as a troubled teen (although they point out an "A" student), the film opens with his very reckless and dangerous actions: breaking into a building, evading police, racing his motorcycle over train tracks as the crossing arms are coming down, and jumping his bike over a fence landing into a swimming pool. Sean walks away with a scratch on the head. In real life, I'm not sure that kid would survive. For this, I bring the star down to four instead of five it would have otherwise deserved.

The other thing to be aware of is the MAGNIFICENT CGI and 3D does create the potential to scare the pants off of younger viewers -- our heroes evade giant lizards and bees attacking. One 9-year old in the audience mentioned he was afraid he was going to have nightmares. Overall, though, for kids 7 and up.
