Aliens in the Attic

Aliens in the Attic is awesome! It's about a bunch of kids who are on a big family vacation and there is this group of aliens who crash into their house. The aliens attack and the kids fight back. I liked it because it was really funny and it was surprising. I enjoyed that Josh Peck (the voice of an alien) and Ashley Tisdale are in the movie. An "A" for Aliens in the Attic. Ages 6 and up.

Aliens in the Attic

I saw this movie with 2 eight year olds and 2 ten year olds. They thought the movie was hilarious. Especially how the twins were controlling another character using a remote control. Make sure you stay for the last scene. The ten year olds liked it.
It is ok for parents as I heard a lot of mom's and dad's laughing.

PARENT: Bickering Family Bonds by Saving Earth

I read a report somewhere that kid gamers may be the best equipped to handle a sudden war because of their excellent hand to eye coordination and inadvertently taught strategies on planning and defending from attacks on videogames. ALIENS IN THE ATTIC rewards and honors the kid gamer as well as the "mathlete."

In ALIENS IN THE ATTIC, two brothers (Kevin Nealon, Andy Richter) bring their families and their mother (Doris Roberts) to a rental house in Maine for summer vacation. Hours into their arrival, another set of guests arrive. Yep, aliens on a mission to take over Earth.

While the premise is as unoriginal as it comes, ALIENS IN THE ATTIC is actually a fun watch with your kid. As it turns out, the fumbling aliens have not perfected their mind control weapon...it only works on adults. While the kids initially do as you'd hope (call 911), they figure out if they tell the adults, they will come battle the aliens to intervene...and potentially make the problem far worse by putting themselves as risk at becoming "alien zombies" themselves. Figuring they have to personally battle the aliens, the six kids handle it themselves by using skills learned in paintball and video games as well as math and science.

ALIENS is not all bells and roses with some unnecessary moments that will make some parents uncomfortable. The Third Commandment is repeatedly broken, Ashley Tisdale wears a bikini or cleavage revealing coverup almost throughout the entire picture. Both of the siblings lie and sneak around their parents. One of the parents buys illegal fireworks with his son. And, a recurring joke is that of the America's Funniest Home Videos variety...a guy getting it in the privates.

On the other hand, Tisdale's character Bethany tells her college-age boyfriend she'd like to "take it slow" and sticks to her decision even when he appears to reject her because of the statement.

While some of the "bad" behavior should have been left in the attic, alien fighting children using knowledge from their world is out-of-this-world fun. For kids 7 and up.
