The Lorax is a movie every kid should see and it's good -- but not great. The Lorax is about a boy who lives in a rubber town, who likes a girl (who likes trees), and the boy tries to find the last tree in existance. The Lorax should be mandatory viewing for everyone because it shows why it's important to take care of the environment and how one kid can make a difference.  The reason it's just ok is because the movie moves a little slow and is boring; it has a couple funny moments, but not a lot. Voicing tree-loving "Audrey" is a good role for Taylor Swift because she's calm and peaceful. The 3D was unneccessary. Ages 3 and up.

The Lorax lifts into theaters

The Lorax is entertaining, educational and enlightening. The creators of this movie take Dr. Seuss’s book, The Lorax and transform it into a magnificent movie. This movie is about a boy named Ted who is in search of a real tree to fulfill his friend, Audrey’s greatest wish to see a real tree since his town is all electronic. In his journey, he meets the Once-ler, a greedy old man who knows about the trees. The Once-ler tells him about the Lorax, a mystical creature who proclaimed himself as the speaker for the trees.

The Lorax is an orange, furry creature with a huge mustache that spreads from cheek to cheek. I liked most of the movie except that there isn’t much action in the movie.

The animation is great and the movie has vivid colors and modern plot elements. I loved the cute, brightly colored animated creatures such as the Humming Fish, Brown Bar-ba-loots, Swomee Swans, and the Lorax.

The moral of the movie is to take a stand for nature. Another lesson that I learned was one person can make a difference. Ted convinces all the people of Thneed-ville that they should change the way they live. Together, everyone can change the world.

However, there are some bad words in the movie that the Once-ler says such as, “You poor stupid guy,” and “Shut up, if you please,” to the Lorax. The Once-ler is very rude, mean and greedy for money. There are many times where his behavior and speech can be despicable.

This magnificent movie is great for the family to watch. I think kids 4 and up can watch The Lorax. I rate this movie 4 stars. It is a Pick It! This movie will convince kids to beautify and conserve their environment and celebrate the Lorax’s message, which is: Stand up for the earth. If you want to find out more, watch this fantastic movie yourself!

Great, Impactful Messages

Kids films today almost always have a message and THE LORAX delivers so many great messages in such an impactful way that I truly wish every kid would go see it. A lot of girls probably will ask to see it for its double whammy of lead voice actors: Taylor Swift and Zac Efron.

THE LORAX is about Ted (Efron), a boy who goes in search of the last remaining tree to try and impress a girl named Audrey (Swift). In the process, he comes up against the city's most powerful businessman, Mr. O'Hare (Rob Riggle) who has convinced everyone that trees are bad and his product, bottled air, is preferable to real air. Mr. O'Hare's claims sound a lot like the kind of rhetoric pushed on the public from politicians, lobbyists and advertising. Ted, Audrey and Ted's grandma (Betty White) use critical and independent thinking to decide what is right -- and hopefully -- THE LORAX will make the light go on for some kids that some adults will exaggerate to get people on board with their agenda.

A few of the scenes may be a little scary for very young viewers (the 4-year old seated in front of me jumped in her dad's lap and said "Get Me Out of Here!") and it moves a little slow. I recommend skipping the 3D to make it more enjoyable for younger kids (actually, the 3D doesn't add much so actually I say skip it entirely).

Dr. Seuss' book THE LORAX was published in 1971 and it's fascinating that citizens have been begging society to take care of the environment for the last 40 years. I think we're all on board that we need trees to exist and THE LORAX does NOT politicize the message; for example, there's no implication of climate change.

Additionally, THE LORAX shows kids the Power of One. A lot of change one might want to see in the world takes thousands or millions to get on board. What can ONE person, one KID, do? THE LORAX gives you the answer: Plenty. For kids 5 and up.
