Miss Congeniality 2 is no big whoop. The story is about Miss Congeniality immediately following the end of the first movie. Agent Gracie Hart becomes the “face” of the FBI and is assigned a female bodyguard, who is a pain to Gracie. Her best friend, Miss United States, is kidnapped along with the pageant host and Hart takes it upon herself to save her friend. The FBI scenes deal with grownup stuff and are boring. Action and comedy scenes turn it up. Ages 8+.

Miss Congeniality 2

Miss Congeniality 2 is a great movie about agent Grace Hart trying to save her best friend (Miss United States), from two loan sharks. Although it is hilarious and awesome, it is nowhere near as great as Miss Congeniality (1). My personal favorite line from the movie is when Gracie says to agent Fuller,"You might consider a Tic Tac." I don't know (or care) what you think about that line, but if you see the scene, it is hilarious. Enough talk about lines, the movie rocks... so; watch it... NOW!

PARENT REVIEW: Congenial Film

I>Miss Congeniality 2 is a tough-chick flick and the lessons are plentiful for women, young and old.

First, Agent Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) chooses to throw out her personality and morph into “FBI Barbie” when her boyfriend dumps her, which she states later, is because it confirms her worst nightmare that she is worthless and not worthy of love. She gives up her intelligence, strength, and talent to become a famous glamour puss – and realizes in the end, that she misses her true self.

The adversarial relationship between Hart and her assigned bodyguard, Agent Fuller, also morphs when they finally realize they have common ground and see the human qualities in each other. Each gives a little warmth toward the other at some point until they realize they have become friends. There is a lot of fighting, but it's actually educational (mostly self defense) and guns are pulled. A gay male character tells Agent Hart what is wrong with her appearance with the implication that’s what is wrong with HER and there are plenty of innuendo and mentions of sex.

It’s nice though to see tough women. The underlying message is you don’t have to have silky, lustrous hair and perfect lipstick to be a woman in today’s society – just be yourself. Ages 9 and up.
