The truth about An Inconvenient Truth is it's better than normal documentaries. It is about former Vice President Al Gore telling us about global warming and the effects that we will go through in the next 50 years. In a good movie, you never really pay attention to it's quality because you're completely into the story. You'll see some of Al Gore's life and pictures of what the world was like before global warming and after. An Inconvenient Truth is an important movie for kids to see because we can learn what the world is going through and what we can do to change it as kids and later as adults. Ages 9 and up.

PARENT REVIEW: The Most Important Movie You Can Se

An Inconvenient Truth is the most important movie you could see with your child. The subject matter isn't funny or wacky, but it proves with real facts, figures, photographs, charts, videos, and documentation that global warming is real and is destroying our children's world, literally. Our children will be the ones trying to live through rising water, increasing natural diasters, and a decreasing food and water supply. Despite the tone given in the trailer, the information is not delivered in a doomsday or fear-based manner nor is it very political.

I was most fascinated by two facts: (1) of the entire world, the United States is bringing on 1/3 of the global warming problem and (2) while no scientific paper has ever disputed global warming, 53% of documents in the media show there is doubt in its existence. Parents should most definitely see this film, especially if they doubt global warming exists. Use this film as an opportunity to bond with your child as you work together to curb your family's contributions to this problem that we are creating for the rest of the world. For 5th grade and up.
