Shrek Forever After

Shrek Forever After (The Final Chapter) is kind of a kid's story and kind of an adult story. It's really, really different than all the other Shrek's which personally I think is good, but other people might not. You see, I don't think that kids under 9 will like it because they don't know about parenting and stuff like that. Shrek Forever After is about Shrek, who is wanting his old life back before he met Fiona. He gets his wish which turns out be a big mistake. I like the chubby kid who keeps asking Shrek to "do the roar." I like how Shrek likes being a real ogre, not one that everyone thinks is nice. Shrek 4 isn't as funny as the previous Shrek films but it's still good. For kids 7 and up.

Definately the last one

I was surprised on how good the fourth movie was, but i think they did too many, there rarely are movies that go that high in a series. I hope this is the last one, because it is not very good, and the next one will just be worse. i thought there was a pretty typical plot where the theme is "be careful of what you wish for". i am getting so tired of that in movies. sometimes it's okay if there is a major twist, or it is presented in a new and different way, but this one feels very plain and simple

SHREK Leaves Us Not Wanting More

Sadly, this final SHREK sequel doesn’t manage to reach the brilliance of the first movie. Even so, it at least deserves a B, for being a fun and widely entertaining movie. While it lacks it’s original mark, it still offers plenty to enjoy.

For the very last movie in the series (at least before the spin-offs come), SHREK gets sent into IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, where the angel is instead an evil Rumplestiltskin. So, if the new plot is the only thing that interests you, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE is probably the way to go. However, SHREK 4 is much more of a lively and action-packed version of that classic Christmas movie. Perhaps it’s not fair to compare the two?

Like it’s distant cousin HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, SHREK tones down on the pop-culture references, but not entirely. They can, for the most part, be found in it’s wonderful soundtrack (it’s wonderful, even if it lacks Rufus Wainwright this time). This is a step forward for Dreamworks, and it seems to be working for them. I’m liking it and I’m also incredibly glad for it’s lack of fart jokes. If there was one, I missed it and for that I am lucky. Still, the magical place and kingdom SHREK depicts hints at Hollywood’s “charm” or “lifestyle” (it’s a stereotype, so they have it 1/4 of the way down).

A film for a wide range of audiences, SHREK can entertain young kids, “inbetweeners”, and probably not leave parents begging for mercy. You get to see Fiona kick-butt once again, Donkey be Donkey, and everything fall into place. Why this movie was needed, I do not know. But one thing is for sure: Hiccup and Toothless are next in line to ride the wave of fame.

Shrek Forever After

Shrek Forever After is alot about parenting. I mean Shrek hates being a husband to a princess. I mean Personaly I can`t blame him I like people to fear me. If any girls disagree I`m fine with it. In the movie Shreck lets out his emosions through violense. In school I am learning how to let out emotions trough words. I`d recomend it to kids 10 and up.

PARENT: It's SHREK for Parents

SHREK FOREVER AFTER follows in the footsteps of CLICK and IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE in showing a story about what life would be like for others if you weren't there. Shrek is a dad who loves his family but is frustrated by the mundane routine of parenting and longs for the days when he was a feared ogre and could live life just for himself and, in essence, winds up signing a shady contract with Rumpelstiltskin to do just this.

The sly, comedic style of Shrek with details in the animation and clever pop-references that often only parents will get is still intact and their is nothing really scary (even in 3D) or inappropriate that would prevent parents from taking kids to see SHREK 4.

However, the storyline is really one only adults -- if not parents -- can appreciate. It's hard for a kid who has just begun their life to understand why Shrek would miss his old days of selfish living. More importantly, it will be even harder for kids to understand why a dad would be frustrated by life playing with and spending time with them and mom...especially because Shrek's final straw occurs at his children's 1st birthday party.

There are few films preschoolers and toddlers will sit through and SHREK FOREVER AFTER is not one of them. It did not keep the attention of the under-5 set in our screening. For 6 and up.
