UPDATE: Animation director Tom McGrath is in talks to reunite with his Madagascar associate Ben Stiller ("Alex the Lion") for RentaGhost. The comedy about a loser who finds success in the afterlife running a spirit rental company will be live-action, marking the first live action directing gig for McGrath. He also directed Megamind.

altOct. 13, 2011 -- RentaGhost is finding new life with Ben Stiller at 20th Century Fox. The project, which was originally sold to Warner Brothers with Russell Brand, switched studios and stars. Stiller's Night at the Museum writers Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant (they're the "Reno 911" guys) will write the script about a guy who is much more successful dead than he was alive, running a thriving business renting out spirits and other supernatural creatures to the living. Kevin McCormick will still produce through his Langley Park shingle along with BermanBraun.

altDec. 10, 2010 -- Russell Brand has a new lease on life, literally. He will star in RentaGhost based on the 1970s-80s BBC series about a dead man bent on success who rents spirits, ghosts and goblins to the living. The idea is to achieve the same comedy-horror tone as Beetlejuice and Gremlins. Producer Kevin McCormick, who is currently working with Brand on Arthur, will produce RentaGhost for Warner Brothers.
