Roll Bounce does not roll and bounce enough to be a great comedy. A group of urban skaters compete for respect at a new rink when their neighborhood rink closes. The film has funny moments and great skating techniques but that doesn’t save it from being boring. Bow Wow may be a big star but he doesn’t bring anything to this movie. Nick Cannon’s part is actually small with just a few lines. Overall, Roll Bounce will be bounced out of theaters quickly. Ages 8-30.

PARENT REVIEW: Mild Enough for Under 13

Roll Bounce is a great example of why kidspickflicks.com exists: the PG-13 rating is almost unjustified. While probably not interesting to kids under the age of 13, the only offensive moments the under-13 set would even catch is a middle-finger and two mild cuss words that most kids probably hear on a daily basis.

The storyline dives deep into how a family moves on after the loss of a parent. The fluffy stuff is the competition at the roller rink but teaches parents that something we see as insignificant means the world to a kid. The father (Chi McBride) sums it up when he says, “Sometimes I forget you guys are not adults, you’re just kids.” That’s something many parents can relate to. Roll Bounce is just the kind of movie you want to see with your teenager. For kids 13 and up.
