MPAA Rating

Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith is the BEST Star Wars movie of the whole series – even better than Empire Strikes Back (Episode 5). In Episode 3, we learn how Anakin turns to the Dark Side to become Darth Vader. Betrayal and distrust on all sides leads good guys to become bad guys and death to major characters. Star Wars fans will like that this film has more lightsaber fights, more dangerous situations, and more villains. There is also violence, killing, and kissing. Ages 7 and up.

PARENT REVIEW: Protaganist is the Bad Guy

Star Wars III steers clear of foul language, sexual situations and for the most part, the violence is standard Star Wars stuff with no blood and no clear pain being felt – people, droids, clones, etc., just die or no longer have a body part intact. UNTIL, the lightsaber fight that necessitates the human Anakin into becoming the part mechanical Darth Vader is so graphic and gruesome that it’s even hard to watch as an adult. What is fantastic about Star Wars III is that it does the unheard-of in movie making: the protagonist becomes and stays a bad guy. It’s a great opportunity to discuss with kids that everyone is capable of being both good and evil and that people who seem good can try and manipulate you into doing bad things. For kids 9 and older.
