I can't decide what's more hideous about this film: the acting or the script. Beastly is a modern retelling of "Beauty and the Beast." The script is AWFUL, assuming is one and the actors weren't just and handed a copy of "Beauty and the Beast." The one saving grace is Neil Patrick Harris, who clearly was making it up as he went along. I regret that he wasn't in it enough because he is the one good thing about this film and deserves an award for being so good in such a bad movie. Beastly is so bad that I get the feeling that director Daniel Barnz is unlikely to ever work again and may be the nail in the Vanessa Hudgens coffin. Ages 11+

good movie with a great soundtrack

this movie is actually good the movie has a great soundtrack this movie will make you humming for days.
this movie also has a touching message about inner looks and even goths can be the hot ones.

Beastly

I think beastly was full of character. I would encourage kids to watch there was nothing terribly "bad" as far as it being rated PG 13. Sure they laid a kiss here and there but honestly if you have seen beauty and the beast then this shouldnt be to bad. Not everyone will enjoy the movie but I suggest that you at least watch it.

Bad but not "bad"

BEASTLY is pretty bad as far as films go but as far as your kids wanting to see the PG-13 film, there's really nothing "bad" about it. A few creative curse words that feel thrown in just to get the PG-13 rating, really. All the negative behavior has consequences and positive messages abound. And as far as it being bad? Who knows, perhaps BEASTLY will join XANADU and FLASH GORDON in being awesomely bad!
