Daniel Radcliffe to Play Igor in FRANKENSTEIN
UPDATE: Daniel Radcliffe will go from playing upright wizard to creepy assistant. The Harry Potter star is in final talks to play Igor, Dr. Frankenstein's hunchback assistant in 20th Century Fox's Frankenstein.
One can only assume Radcliffe will take inspiration from Dobby in how to say "Master" in the most disconcerting manner.
Sept. 6, 2012 - A year after announcing Real Steel director Shawn Levy would be directing Max Landis' (Chronicle) take on Frankenstein, 20th Century Fox and Davis Entertainment are now announcing Paul McGuigan (Push, Lucky Number Slevin) will helm instead. Fox's vision of the project, which is said to focus on themes of friendship and redemption, was a low-budget picture; Levy wanted to make a big budget spectacle.
Sept. 2, 2011 - 20th Century Fox is taking one big lumbering step forward on its Frankenstein movie, one of NINE that are currently in development, by hiring Night at the Museum director-producer Shawn Levy. Fox's project is a sci-fi take written by Max Landis that is said to focus on themes of friendship and redemption. Levy specializes in comedies (Date Night, Pink Panther, Cheaper by the Dozen) but steps out into a sci-fi drama with October's Real Steel starring Hugh Jackman.
Levy's Frankenstein has a lot of man-made man competition on paper, but so far none of the films seem to be very far into development except for the first on the list below:
* Rocker Slash's Wake the Dead is a graphic novel adaptation starring Haley Joel Osment as college student Victor Franklin who is fascinated with bringing people back from the dead. The Water Horse director Jay Russell will helm,
* Indie Frankenstein's Army takes place at the end of World War II. Russian soldiers find Dr. Frankenstein's journal in a top secret Nazi laboratory. They use the notes to build an army by sewing together the body parts of their dead soldier buddies;
* Summit Entertainment's This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein from Twilight producer Karen Rosenfelt about Victor Frankenstein's creation of the Elixir of Life to save his deathly ill twin. Cloverfield's Matt Reeves is directing;
*Timur Bekmambetov's The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein, an origin story in which poet Percy Bysshe Shelley inspires Victor Frankenstein to see if reanimation is possible;
*Craig Fernandez' (From Prada to Nada) version from Sony Pictures Entertainment;
*a modern-day Frankenstein based on the Dean Koontz book series that takes place in New Orleans;
*Lakeshore Entertainment's modern-day take I, Frankenstein which uses CGI to create supplemental creatures with Stuart Beattie directing;
*Universal Studios intention to revitalize Frankenstein from its catalog of monsters.
