Arthur Christmas

Arthur Christmas is coming to town! Arthur Christmas a very meaningful movie about how Santa Claus missed a child. His clumsy son Arthur goes with his grandfather to give the child her twinkle bike before sunrise, but the movie is really about the true meaning of Christmas. The jokes in Arthur Christmas are pretty funny but not hilarious. The 3D is so good that when they're on the seashore, I could smell the ocean! In the movie, Santa and his son Steve and all the elves use advanced technology to get across the world in one night. I feel that every kid who thinks that Christmas is the best holiday should see this movie. I would want to watch Arthur Chrismas every Christmas Eve. All ages.

Arthur Christmas: Beautiful Yet Sad

Arthur Christmas is by far one of the best animated movies of 2011. But the theme of the Clauses fighting over who is Santa is quite depressing. When I left the theater I didn't feel joy like I intended to feel. But I will say that the voice acting was phenomenal. The Aardaman studio does a great job with animation. But the story as a whole isn't the strongest. But I could easily see this film being nominated for Best Animated Feature at the upcoming Oscars. I did however like the message about technology taking over our morals and standards. It also shows that it's great to work together to give someone cheer. But I gave this film a 4/5 because the animation is fabulous and there is a degree of a lesson. It lost a point for the story but otherwise I'd recommend it to Adults and Children 9 and up due to the fact that it puts a bad light into the Clauses plus the 3D in this film was just ok unlike Hugo's which was fantastic.

Santa sleds into the theater

Arthur Christmas is exciting, exhilarating, and extremely funny for kids. Have you ever wondered how Santa flies around the world in such a short time? Well, in this movie, Santa doesn’t use a sleigh to fly around the universe with reindeer as you think; instead they have highly advanced technology to travel all around the world in one night.

Arthur is the mail agent, who receives mail from kids and replies each letter back to them. He is the hero in this story, who tries all his might to deliver a missed present before sun rise. With the help off Bryony, a lowly elf from the Gift-wrap Battalion, Steve (Arthur’s big brother), and Santa, they work together to deliver the present.
The best scene that I like is how thousands of elves shimmy down ropes from their ship and deliver the presents to billions of children in the nick of time.

The animation is great, and I suggest you watch it in 3D. It shows fantastic images and the visual arts are mind-blowing. 3D movies have special effects that bring realism to the animation and scenery. When Arthur, Santa’s dad, and Bryony fly on the sleigh in 3D, I feel like I am in a Disneyland rollercoaster swooping upwards and downwards.
There are some parts that scared me such as the gun shots, missiles fired at the sleigh and a few scary animals that attacked the sleigh. Also, 3 bad words are said in the movie including “idiot”, “what-the”, and “hell”.

This is a fabulous movie for family and friends to watch together on Christmas. I think children over 5 years old can watch this marvelous Christmas movie. I rate this movie 5 stars and a Pick It!

A 3D Must See

ARTHUR CHRISTMAS is an instant Christmas classic. The story about the sons of Santa Claus in the year Santa is expected to retire is sweet, relatable, funny and entertaining -- all accompanied by animation that pops and 3D which is GLORIOUS (seriously, it's the most accurate term).

The story attacks the age old question: just how does Santa pull off delivering presents to millions (billions?) of homes across the globe in just one night. It's a pretty high-tech operation, we learn, organized by Arthur's older brother Steve. Arthur is well-meaning but clumsy and disorganized - no one would ever put Christmas in his hands. But, when Steve's operation misses one child on Christmas Eve, it's Arthur who does everything to save the feelings and belief in that one little girl by trying his hardest to deliver that gift before sunrise.

Kids will be able to relate to how Arthur feels in the shadow of his brother. Older audiences will be able to relate to the feeling of technology developing too quickly to catch up and feeling left behind as, as Steve puts it, like a "relic."

A few items to note: some of the humor may be a little hard for kids to take. For instance, Santa is a doddering old man and isn't too concerned about one child and GrandSanta (the former Santa Claus) is cranky and mean. The head elf says "children are stupid."

The redeeming element is that the film is cleverly written and executed and did I mention the 3D is AMAZING?

The 3D animation is it's own Christmas miracle: the texture of Arthur's sweater is tangible -- every fiber is visible. As we accompany Arthur on his very first sleigh ride, you can almost feel the wind in your hair. As the waves of the ocean hit the beach, my daughter whispered, "I can smell the ocean." ARTHUR CHRISTMAS is a 3D MUST-SEE. A great choice for a family film this holiday season. For kids 6 and up.
