4 More Big Stars Join SAVING MR. BANKS

Paul Giammati, Paul GiamattiUPDATE: More casting news for the how-Mary-Poppins-movie-was-made film Saving Mr. Banks. Jason Schwartzman (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) will play Richard Sherman, who composed the music for Mary Poppins (as well as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Winnie the Pooh, The Jungle Book and the annoying earworm "Its a Small World" from the Disneyland ride. 

Paul Giammati, Paul GiamattiPaul Giamatti (Rock of Ages) will play Ralph, "Mary Poppins" author P.L. Travers' chauffeur while she's in Los Angeles. 

Colin Farrell (Total Recall) will play Travers' father and Ruth Wilson, the British actress who will be seen in both The Lone Ranger and Anna Karenina, will play Travers' mother -- they will be seen in flashbacks. 


April 10, 2012: Who else could play Walt altDisney but Tom Hanks? No one,  of course, or at least not as perfectly (although director John Waters kind of looks like him). Hanks is in talks to play the creator of the altHappiest Place on Earth Empire in Disney's Saving Mr. Banks about what it took to make the movie Mary Poppins. Also in the "of course!" casting category: Emma Thompson (who plays Nanny McPhee in that film franchise) is in talks to


play "Mary Poppins" author P.L. Travers who was reluctant to sell the rights to her book to Disney and ultimately was unhappy that she did so.

he was deeply dissatisfied with the cartoon portions she refused to sell any of her other works to Disney. Of course, Mary Poppins (starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke) is in the library of classic beloved children's films. The Blind Side director John Lee Hancock is in talks to direct.
