altaltUPDATE: The '60s music biopic Girls Like Us is ready to add two more girls to join Taylor Swift: actresses to play Carly Simon and Carole King. The project is about the importance of female musicians and the three women who broke the glass ceiling in the pop music world.

To play Simon (pictured left) - whose biggest hits include "Nobody Does It Better" and "You're So Vein" - the short list includes: Analeigh Tipton (Crazy, Stupid, Love and was a winner of "America's Next Top Model"),  Allison Williams (HBO's "Girls" and daughter of NBC News anchor Brian Williams) and Jessica Pare (Hot Tub Time Machine, "Mad Men").

The actresses who will screen test for the role of Carole King (pictured right - be grateful for the advent of hair products), whose big hits include "I Feel the Earth Move" and "You've Got a Friend," are Allison Pill (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, "The Newsroom"), Olivia Thirlby (Juno), Ari Graynor (Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist) and Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks).

The actresses will be undergoing a chemistry test to believably show the trio as long time friends.

altApril 20, 2012 - Taylor Swift's first leading role in a feature film looks to be playing 1960s music icon Joni Mitchell in Girls Like Us. The movie follows legendary female singers Mitchell, Carly Simon and Carole King (a role for which Scott Pilgrim vs. The World's Allison Pill has auditioned) as their career's rise and marking the rise of women in the music industry. For the last several months, Swift has been associated with the role and while lots of other actresses are auditioning to play Simon and King, there are no reports of anyone else auditioning for Mitchell's role.

altJoni Mitchell is considered one of the greatest songwriters in history, two of her most famous songs are "Big Yellow Taxi" and "Both Sides Now." "House" executive producer Katie Jacobs is directing from John Sayles' (The Spiderwick Chronicles) script adaptation of the book by Sheila Weller. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers) is producing for Sony.
