July 31, 2012 - Jon M. Chu, the director of Justin Bieber's Never Say Never 3D and Step Up 3D, is in talks to helm Masters of the Universe for Sony Pictures. Based on the Mattel action figures, the live-action pic will focus on prince-turned-warrior He-Man as he tries to save the magical world that has been taken over by villain Skeletor. Chu's G.I. Joe: Retaliation was pushed back to next March while it undergoes a 3D conversion. Source: Deadline |
UPDATE: Richard Wenk will rewrite the script for Masters of the Universe. The scribe is known for action films like The Expendables 2 and The Mechanic, although he did direct one episode of the TV series for girls, "Sweet Valley High." Alex Litvak (The Three Musketeers) and Mike Finch wrote the first draft of the script.
