KUNG FU PANDA Director Gets Elementary with SHERLOCK GNOMES

Sherlock Gnomes, the sequel to Elton John's animated musical Gnomeo & Juliet, will be directed by Kung Fu Panda helmer John Stevenson. The lawn decorations from the first film will be joined by the famous sleuth, who in this case, is also a garden gnome. Gnomes is trying to find out why the citizens of the English garden are disappearing but, perhaps it's the plaster in his brain, Gnomes isn't as bright as his human counterpart. The writers from the first outing, Andy Riley and Kevin Cecil, are writing the follow up and Elton John is writing new music for the pic. John's Rocket Pictures is producing and, assumably, Disney will again distribute under its label.

Stevenson is currently working on Alien Rock Band about an intergalactic battle of the bands.  

Gnomeo & Juliet grossed $194 million at the box office.
