Nice moral to the story. The father abuses his family and the animals; this is demonstrated through gruff behavior, the characters talking about it, and one bruise. The audience is not shown any actual abuse. The child does talk back to his father and repeatedly undermines him. The mother stays with the abusive father because “we need to eat.” He is a bad guy but I wondered about how the messages translate to those fortunate children who don’t understand a parent abusing their child.
