Slay the monster, slay the movie. Based on the old epic poem, Beowulf is about a hero who slays a monster but must face consequences with it's mother. The fact is, this is the most unintentionally funny movie I've ever seen. That's not a good thing. Grown ups will think the animation is stunning, but I could care less; it doesn't matter how cool the technology is if the script is horrible. The combat scenes are captivating in a car-accident kind of way -- you can't stop yourself from watching but you want to look away because of the disgustingness. The effects are well suited for the IMAX 3-D but I recommend you don't see it in 3-D ... if you do, bring a barf bag. The detailed animation style is extremely gory and the monster Grendel is downright disgusting (and you can't understand what he's saying). Children under 10 will have nightmares for days. The true monster is this film. Ages 13+
