UPDATE: The Alchemyst, the first book in "The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel," will be made into a movie by Ampco Films. Author of the book series Michael Scott will adapt the book into a screenplay. "The Alchemyst" is about the real life alchemist Nicolas Flamel who officially died in 1418, however, some believe he found the potion for eternal life. The book is about trying to protect his secret which, if discovered, could destroy the world. This is the third time the rights to the book series have been acquired with plans of making a Harry Potter-type franchise. Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura had them in 2009 and New Line in 2006. No movies have been made as of yet. Source: Variety Nov. 19, 2009 -- Uberproducer Lorenzo di Bonaventura acquired the rights to make the young adult fantasy book series, "The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel" into a movie series. Di Bonaventura is the franchise king, playing a role in both the Harry Potter and the Transformers franchises. Nicholas Flamel was a real alchemist in the 1330s and is referenced in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The story revolves around the adventures of 15-year old twins Sophie and Josh who travel with Flamel around the world.
