Don’t throw this movie in the fire. Firehouse Dog is about a lost canine movie star who finds his way to an old firehouse that's in foreclosure. Little Hollywood jokes made the movie pretty funny. Cheesy special effects and stunts are throughout the movie, but it was still good. I left this movie in a great mood. Ages 8+.

The Dog Was Cool

I liked it. The dog was cool. I liked it when the dog jumped off the house. The funny part was when the dog burped and tooted.

PARENT REVIEW: Warms Your Heart & Funny Bone

Firehouse Dog warms your heart and your funny bone. It's an easygoing film about a boy and his father wrapped in grief after the passing of a family member and a spoiled Hollywood dog who finds a higher purpose than making movies. A couple of border line curse words are in the film as well as several flatulence jokes (that made me laugh pretty hard).

Our 'tween hero (the always good, tears-on-demand Josh Hutcherson) investigates a string of arsons which is thrilling and empowering to kids. I also appreciated the glimpse into the life of a firefighter and the perils and consequences they face for their community. More importantly, it's worth discussing and sharing the message of Firehouse Dog: sometimes good people -- and good dogs -- go through the motions of life without truly connecting.
