Lionsgate is going forward with The Panopticon, a sci-fi thriller about a salesman who receives a phone call saying the world is going to end and he's the only one who can save it. "Lost" writer Craig Rosenberg wrote the screenplay and The Haunting in Connecticut director Peter Cornwell will helm.

WILD HOGS 2 Cancelled Due to OLD DOGS Failure |

New Disney president Rich Ross is squashing everything associated with Disney flop Old Dogs. Let's be clear: "you win some, you lose some" is not a Disney mantra...just "you win."
With John Lassiter handling the animated front of Disney/Pixar, Ross is trying to shape up the live action side. It looks like Disney is not going to be making any more films for the older set. Ross has cancelled the sequel to box office hit Wild Hogs starring Tim Allen, John Travolta, William H. Macy and Martin Lawrence. Walt Becker was to resume directing duties but the failure of his last film, Old Dogs, may have something to do with the halt of Wild Hogs 2: Bachelor Ride. Earlier this week, Ross pulled Wedding Banned which would have starred Robin Williams, the star of Old Dogs. Of course, the other star was Travolta.
Ross is said to be trying to keep Disney on it's family-friendly brand. I applaud Ross' direction. Wild Hogs was shockingly inappropriate for families (if not everyone with its constant gay jokes). It was appropriately rated PG-13 but you take Disney and mix it with the stars of The Santa Clause, Look Who's Talking and Big Momma's House and parents are bound to think it's something you take kids to see. |

Rumors of which villain Spider-Man will be taking on in the fourth installment have been flying so frequently one has to wonder if Sam Raimi is putting out a red herring to mislead the audience. The latest is John Malkovich and Anne Hathaway as new villains the Vulture and the Vulturess. Of course, the Spidey camp has it's lips sealed.
In other Anne Hathaway news, The Princess Diaries star was in a car accident yesterday but is okay. Her boyfriend Adam Shulman was reportedly driving and hit a motorcyclist. Photos from the scene had Hathaway on a cell phone while appearing to be talking to the downed cyclist. The motorcyclist was found at fault for the incident.

Word is strong that Brad Pitt may star in a Sherlock Holmes sequel as the detective's enemy James Moriarty. Director Guy Ritchie (who worked with Pitt in Snatch) would only say he's a big fan of Pitt's, he would love to work with him again, and that he wasn't allowed to say anything about the future of Moriarty.
