It's a Tie! Oscar Hosts are Steve Martin AND Alec Baldwin

Written by Tara the Mom    Tuesday, 03 November 2009 16:32

The gig of Oscar host is as much sought after as it is feared: it's a brutal and time-consuming gig but can be especially rewarding if done well (see Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal). With Hugh Jackman declining, the job of host this year will be a job share for Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. Martin has hosted the Oscars twice before, this will be a new job for Baldwin who was a movie star before becoming the Emmy King with "30 Rock."

Others declining the job reportedly include a pairing of Ben Stiller and Robert Downey, Jr.

Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman are producing the 82nd Academy Awards.

The Oscar telecast is set for March 7, 2010 on ABC.

Written by Tara the Mom    Tuesday, 03 November 2009 16:30

Bankrupt Halycon Co. is looking to sell off all of its rights to the Terminator franchise with an auction set for January. It's selling off the rights to future films, DVDs, merchandise and TV series. Halcyon, which purchased the Terminator franchise in 2007, is hoping for a bidding war which is likely to happen considering that the pictures make substantial coin and are one of the few properties not already owned by a studio.

Halcyon is pointing to the recent acquisition of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle property by Nickelodeon/Viacom as a guideline for price. TMNT went for $60 million and Halcyon's sales agent from FTI Capital Advisers says the Terminator franchise has earned three times the box office as the TMNT franchise.
