MAX STEEL Moves On Without Taylor Lautner & a Movie

Written by Tara the Mom    Monday, 28 January 2013 00:00

MAX STEEL, MattelUPDATE: With Taylor Lautner backing out of the Max Steel, the movie has stalled out, but the Max Steel relaunch is still on. "Max Steel" the animated TV series will debut on Disney XD in March. Additionally, the Latino action figure will be accessible at MaxSteel.com, a mobile game app and graphic novels.

MAX STEEL, MattelDec. 7, 2009 - Max Steel is an action figure that is the more masculine, buff, brunette version of Ken. In a brilliant casting move, Twilight's sculpted, olive-complected, bright teethed Taylor Lautner has been cast to play the Mattel toy in the Paramount film based on the character. This story will have Max Steel as a 19-year old extreme sports fanatic who goes to work for a secret agency after an accident infects his body with nanobots and he becoms superhuman.

The casting works for another reason: Max Steel is the best-selling action figure in Latin America and Lautner can easily pass for Latino.

This film will be the trial of Lautner: can the teen open a film? In Lautner's previous films, the film's opening wasn't centered around him (Robert Rodiguez' The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl, Twilight 1 and 2, upcoming ensemble romantic comedy Valentine's Day).

Ty-Simpkins: Meet IRON MAN 3's 11-year Old Star

altby Miranda R., Age 15

At 11 years old, Ty Simpkins already has quite a few credits on his resume. Simpkins has been in movies since he was barely 3 months old, and has roles in flicks such as Insidious, The Next Three Days, and Little Children. Maybe even more interesting is how many times he's been cast in films with his real life sister Ryan Simpkins - they play siblings in Revolutionary Road, Pride and Glory and Arcadia, among others.

altBut for Iron Man 3, Ty's first action movie, he goes it alone. Ty plays Harley Keener, an intelligent kid who has a run-in with Iron Man and actually helps him save the day.

Ty's favorite part of working on Iron Man 3 was being able to spend time with its star Robert Downey Jr. "Robert's really fun to work with. He's a really nice guy."

Like many kids his age, Ty is a huge Iron Man fan. "My favorite superhero is Iron Man and I'm not just saying that because I worked on the Iron Man movie. It actually is Iron Man," he says very emphatically....
